SPI reinforces its international positioning by supporting social inclusion and cultural development initiatives in Cape Verde

The Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI) is pleased to announce its participation, as a co-promoter, in the ArtCultura Nexus project – Inclusive and Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Artistic and Cultural Businesses, coordinated by the Business Incubation Center (BIC) Association in Cape Verde, and funded by Camões – Cooperation and Language Institute. The initiative aims to create favourable conditions for the development of sustainable cultural businesses, whilst simultaneously promoting social inclusion and strengthening the local economic ecosystem.

With a total budget of 311,271 euros and a duration of 24 months, ArtCultura Nexus seeks to respond to structural challenges in the Cape Verdean cultural sector, namely, limited access to funding and market opportunities, low levels of training in management and entrepreneurship, and limited technological solutions in artistic and cultural businesses.

The programme promotes access to employment opportunities and economic growth, valuing culture as a vector for sustainable local development and community identity on the island of Santiago. The direct beneficiaries are individual and collective artists, cultural entrepreneurs and professionals in the fields of art and culture, aged 18 and over and resident in the region.

Within the scope of the project, SPI is responsible for training actions, incubation support and strategic consultancy. Activities include support for the drafting and monitoring of business plans, specialised mentoring, the development of management and innovation content, and the holding of an intensive bootcamp. SPI also contributes to the mapping of ecosystem stakeholders, the design of a 12-month incubation pathway and the definition of instruments that promote the sustainability, digitalisation and scalability of the projects, mobilising its international experience in consultancy and entrepreneurship.

SPI's participation reinforces its positioning as a leading international partner and highlights the institution's commitment to supporting strategic initiatives that promote inclusive cultural entrepreneurship, contributing to the economic and social development of Cape Verde and to the enhancement of culture as a driver of community identity and local sustainability.
