Between the 7 and 11 July 2014 SPI undertook a mission to Brazil, in order to start a new project in Rio Grande do Sul, focusing on developing a methodology for benchmarking with an emphasis on industrial competitiveness.
This project is implemented by the Agência Gaúcha de Desenvolvimento e Promoção do Investimento (AGDI), and funded by the World Bank. The project is part of a broader initiative promoted by AGDI, designated Projeto de Extensão Produtiva e Inovação (Extension and Productive Innovation Project), which aims to create 20 centers to support SME, covering the entire state.
On 9 July, the project organized its first public startup session, which was held in Porto Alegre, and attended by AGDI members, technical staff from the centers , project staff, and other government and the scientific and technological system agencies. Throughout the week, the SPI team, accompanied by Fraunhofer ISI (project partner) advisors participated in meetings with AGDI technical team and visited 4 centers in the region.
