The Trás-os-Montes region of Portugal positions itself for the next Community Framework Support Programme

In the context of activities related with the preparation of the next Framework Programme and the Europe 2020 strategy, the Municipal authority of Bragança organized a seminar entitled “Trás-os-Montes: Challenges and Opportunities for Regional Development”, which took place on 21st March 2012.
The organization of the seminar was supported by Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação and included the participation of Dr. Christian Saublens, expert in regional development and European policy.
Dr. Christian Saublens has more than 30 years experience working with the European Commission. He is currently director of EURADA, the European Association of Development Agencies, which is an organisation with 140 members in more than 20 countries.
The seminar focused particularly on the research and innovation strategies for smart specialization (RIS3) and their importance in the promotion of regional development in the context of the Europe 2020 strategy.
With the participation of different entities in the areas of public administration, higher education and business community, the workshop yielded a number of important contributions to the development of Trás-os-Montes region and its strategic positioning at European level.
